A federal judge in Boston said she will issue a preliminary injunction Thursday to block the Trump administration\u2019s directive to strip Harvard University of its ability to admit international students.<\/p>\n
Judge Allison Burroughs issued the ruling from the bench after an emergency hearing on the administration’s move, which upended the lives of the 27 percent of Harvard\u2019s student body that is made up of foreign students.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to maintain the status quo,\u201d Burroughs said from the bench, according to<\/a> CNN.\u00a0<\/p>\n Harvard quickly sued the administration last week after the directive was given by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which also ordered current international students<\/a> at Harvard to transfer to other schools or risk losing their visas.<\/p>\n \u201cThis administration is holding Harvard accountable for fostering violence, antisemitism, and coordinating with the\u00a0Chinese Communist Party\u00a0on its campus,\u201d DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said.\u00a0\u201cIt is a privilege, not a right, for universities to enroll foreign students and benefit from their higher tuition payments to help pad their multibillion-dollar endowments. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
