The Oxford Union debating society announced Tuesday the ouster of\u00a0President-elect George\u00a0Abaraonye\u00a0after reported comments celebrating the assassination<\/a> of\u00a0conservative activist Charlie Kirk.\u00a0<\/p>\n Abaraonye\u00a0lost the no-confidence vote, with more than two-thirds of the Oxford society, one of the oldest in Britain, voting for his\u00a0resignation.<\/p>\n The incoming president\u00a0allegedly celebrated the killing of Charlie Kirk on Instagram and WhatsApp, posting on Instagram, \u201cCharlie Kirk got shot\u00a0loool,\u201d the BBC reported<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n Abaraonye\u00a0and Kirk met in May and debated toxic masculinity.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Abaraonye\u00a0received hate and racial abuse after the comments against Kirk came out, which the Oxford Union condemned, but also moved forward with disciplinary proceedings, the BBC\u00a0reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n Abaraonye called for the no-confidence vote himself, thinking he would beat the two-thirds measure needed for his ouster. He is currently challenging the results, alleging those who wanted him gone had\u00a0“unsupervised access”\u00a0to the email that received proxy votes, according to BBC.<\/p>\n
